Lotus Elise Servicing
Specialist servicing, repairs and upgrades for every Lotus Elise, from the earliest Series 1 to the final Series 3, with Rover K-series and Toyota engines.

Elise specialists since 2016
Several of the Elises we look after have been with us since we opened in 2016, including a 111R that Jonny first knew in his early twenties and which still returns every year for its service. The cars we see range from one-owner examples approaching 150,000 miles to exceptionally preserved cars with fewer than 10,000. Each is maintained according to its engine, age and mileage.

Common Lotus Elise Jobs
Timing belts
Lotus specifies timing belt replacement every four years regardless of mileage, so low-mileage cars are not exempt. We replace the belt as part of the Major Service.
Rover K-series head gaskets
On Series 1 and 2 Rover-engined cars we fit the latest multi-layer steel (MLS) gasket and check liner heights as standard. The cylinder head is checked, tested, cleaned and skimmed, and new valve stem seals are fitted.
Front end refreshes
With the front clam removed, we fit updated alloy radiators, cooling fans and condensers, and replace tow posts while there is full access.
S3 catalytic converters
Standard Toyota 2ZR catalytic converters are increasingly failing at low mileage. Our sports catalytic converter has enabled affected cars to pass the MOT emissions test.
S3 daytime running lights
When the daytime running lights fail on a Series 3, we can replace the internal circuit board, avoiding the cost of a new headlight unit.
Suspension and geometry
Suspension refreshes, Spitfire Engineering toe links, and fast road or track geometry set up on our Logik 6 alignment system.
Popular Elise upgrades include baffled sumps, Nitron suspension, Spitfire Engineering components and our hand-built exhaust systems. See them all on our Performance page.
Lotus Elise Questions
- How often does an Elise need a timing belt?
- Lotus specifies a new timing belt every four years, regardless of mileage. We replace it as part of the Major Service (C), together with the gearbox oil and fuel filter.
- Which service does my Elise need?
- The Interim Service (A) is the annual check with an oil and filter change. The Full Service (B) is typically every 12,500 to 24,000 miles or every 2 to 3 years, and the Major Service (C) at the 25,000 or 50,000 mile mark. Prices for each engine are in the table above.
- Can you inspect an Elise I've just bought?
- Yes. We carry out post-purchase inspections, including on cars bought at auction, giving you a clear picture of the car's condition and any work it needs.
