Major mechanical work
Alongside servicing, we carry out major mechanical work: head gasket replacement, engine rebuilds and swaps, clutch replacement and upgrades, and gearbox work including limited slip differentials. When the engine or gearbox is already out, it is the ideal time to fit upgrades such as an LSD, avoiding a second strip-down.
Mechanical Work We Carry Out
Rover K-series head gaskets
Upgraded to the latest multi-layer steel gasket with liner heights checked, and the cylinder head checked, tested and cleaned while removed.
Engine rebuilds and swaps
Rebuilds following head gasket failure, replacement engines where a cylinder has lost compression, and engine swaps up to supercharged K20 conversions for the Elise.
Clutches
Clutch replacement on the Emira, Exige and Evora, plus upgrades such as the 410 clutch for the Exige 350.
Gearboxes and LSDs
Limited slip differentials fitted while the gearbox is out for a clutch, and built gearboxes with LSDs, including Andrew Goater gearboxes for the Elise.

- Can you replace a Rover K-series head gasket?
- Yes. We upgrade to the latest multi-layer steel (MLS) gasket and always check the liner heights, which is essential on the K-series.
- Is it worth fitting an LSD when the clutch is replaced?
- Yes, as the gearbox is already removed. V6 Exige owners have added an LSD this way, so the gearbox only needs to come out once.
- Do you rebuild gearboxes yourselves?
- We remove and refit the gearbox, while rebuilds and LSD installations are carried out by our specialist gearbox partner.
- How much does it cost?
